Plans don’t always go perfectly, and from time to time, lessons may need to be postponed or cancelled by either the tutor or the client. Each situation will be reviewed fairly on a case-by-case basis. For tutors: If you need to postpone or cancel a lesson, please make sure there is a valid reason and inform the client as early as possible. If the reason is due to an illness, medical proof may be requested. Repeated cancellations or no-shows without proper justification may affect your eligibility for future assignments. For clients (first lesson only): Clients are expected to inform the tutor or SparkTutors at least 6 hours in advance if they need to postpone or cancel the first lesson. If insufficient notice is given, the client may be required to pay 50% of the first lesson fee to cover the tutor’s time and transport. From the second lesson onwards: Tutors should clearly communicate their own cancellation and rescheduling expectations to the client after the first lesson. Any last-minute cancellations from the second lesson onwards will be handled directly between the tutor and client, and will not be managed by the agency. Early withdrawal by tutors: If a tutor chooses to discontinue an assignment entirely without a valid reason, payment for lessons already conducted may not be issued. In such cases, SparkTutors may also recover up to 50% of the total lesson fees as the agency fee for the matching service provided. Each case will be reviewed individually, and SparkTutors’ decision will be final.
