How do I request for a tutor?

What kinds of tutors can I choose from?

We have 3 kinds of tutors. Current or former MOE teachers - These tutors are often highly experienced in curriculum delivery and exam preparation, making them a popular choice for high-stakes assessments. As such, they typically command premium rates compared to other tutor types. Full-Time Tutors - Full-time tutors teach as their main profession and typically handle multiple students on a regular basis. They may conduct one-to-one lessons as well as group classes at tuition centres. While academic qualifications vary from tutor to tutor, full-time tutors usually bring strong teaching experience and consistency, with tuition rates reflecting their individual background and track record. Part-Time Tutors - Part-time tutors provide tuition alongside their studies or full-time work. This group commonly includes A-Level graduates, diploma holders, undergraduates, and occasionally working professionals or university graduates who tutor on a part-time basis. They are generally the most budget-friendly option for home tuition and are well-suited for foundational learning and homework support.

How are the tutors assigned to me?

Once you submit a tutor request, our admins will review your requirements and shortlist a suitable tutor based on your preferences. Tutor recommendations will then be shared with you via SMS/WhatsApp/email. At this stage, you can clarify any details, ask for alternative options, or proceed with the match. If the tutor doesn’t feel like the right fit, simply let us know, we’re happy to look for another option. Our team will ensure that lesson schedules, expectations, and fees are clearly agreed upon by both parties before anything is confirmed. Once you give the go-ahead, we’ll send you a Confirmation Note with all the lesson details, and you can get ready to begin your tuition journey.

What if the tutor is not suitable?

If at any point you feel that the assigned tutor is not the best fit for your child, please let us know and we’ll be glad to help arrange a change of tutor as quickly as possible, at no additional cost. While this rarely happens due to our careful matching process and high tutor standards, we understand that every student learns differently. Any lessons that have already taken place with the previous tutor will remain payable.

What are the commission / agency fees?

Our services for matching assignments with the right tutors are free-of-charge. You will only pay for the lessons conducted. As part of the tutoring arrangement, an agency fee is applied during the initial 2 weeks of lessons. This amount is taken from the tutor’s earnings, so there is no additional charge on top of the lesson fees you pay. This fee is calculated based on the lesson schedule that was originally agreed upon and is covered within the first 2 weeks of lessons ie. 50% of 1 month's lesson fees. Once that initial period is over, all fees from Week 3 onward are fully payable to the tutor. If assignments end earlier than expected and do not run for a full month, the fees for the lessons already conducted will still be payable.

How do I pay for lessons?

Most of the time, you will pay the agency directly via PayNow/PayLah/bank transfer. In rare cases where the client is unable to make payment to us directly, we may ask for the tutor's help to collect it on our behalf.

Why do tutors charge different prices?

Tutors set their own lesson rates based on factors such as experience, qualifications, student level, location, and timing. While rates may vary, our coordinators review each arrangement carefully to ensure pricing remains reasonable and in line with current market standards. Check the rates page for more information. Where possible, we also assist with discussions and adjustments to help match lesson fees to your budget.

How and where are lessons conducted?

One of the strengths of private tuition is its flexibility. Tutors are not bound by fixed lesson templates like how it is in schools, and each brings their own teaching style and approach. Before matching a tutor, our coordinators take time to understand your child’s learning needs so we can recommend a suitable fit. The first lesson typically focuses on familiarisation, allowing the tutor to assess your child’s current standard and learning gaps. From subsequent lessons, teaching is usually more structured and aligned to the student’s syllabus or learning goals. Parents are welcome to share inputs or specific focus areas at any time, and lesson approaches can be adjusted through open discussion between the tutor and family. Lessons are conducted at a location agreed upon in advance, most commonly at the student’s home. Alternative venues, such as the tutor’s residence or suitable public spaces, may be arranged if mutually agreed. Any change in lesson location after confirmation will require the consent of both the client and the tutor.

What if I decided to add more subjects or students (for eg. siblings)?

You are welcome to begin with a single subject first, and then add more subjects, increase lesson frequency, or engage the same tutor for other students at a later stage. For your own protection and to ensure proper accountability, all such requests should be made through the agency. Please note that arrangements made outside of the agency’s knowledge or coordination will not be covered. As such, both tutors and clients are required to promptly inform our admin of any changes or additions to lessons, subjects, or students.

What if I or the tutor needs to reschedule the first lesson?

If you need to reschedule the first lesson, please inform us at least 6 hours in advance. Short-notice cancellation of the first lesson may require payment of 50% of the first lesson fee to cover the tutor’s time and travel. For rescheduling requests of the first lesson made outside our operating hours (Monday to Sunday, 9am to 10pm), please contact the tutor directly to make alternative arrangements. After the first lesson, any postponement or cancellation can be discussed with the tutor directly. While tutors are expected to keep to the agreed lesson schedule, we understand that occasional rescheduling may happen due to illnesses or unforeseen circumstances. If lesson changes start to occur more often than you’re comfortable with, we encourage open communication with the tutor to help keep things on track. Should the issue persist despite discussion, please let us know promptly. Our team will step in to assist and, if necessary, arrange a replacement tutor to ensure minimal disruption to your child’s learning.

What if I need to or the tutor decides to withdraw from the tuition assignment?

We encourage both clients and tutors to try to commit to an assignment for a minimum of four (4) weeks. If a tutor withdraws from the assignment before completing this period without a valid reason (such as illness), fees for the lessons conducted will not be payable to the tutor. In such cases, clients will only be required to pay 50% of the lesson fees (plus any applicable taxes) directly to the agency. While we are unable to legally require tutors to commit beyond the initial four-week period, we strongly emphasize responsible commitment to all our tutors and encourage them to continue at least through key academic milestones, such as year-end examinations. In practice, the vast majority of our tutors honour their commitments and see assignments through. If you decided to withdraw from the tuition assignment within the first month, the fees for lessons that were conducted will still have to be payable. After the first month, any postponement or cancellation can be discussed with the tutor directly.
